The "about" section on this blog is situated right next to the "home" link above the header on my blog. Perhaps I should make another about section more clearly in the sidebar.... It's easy on the eye and easy to see the content. The only thing I would add is a short "about" somewhere on the sidebar so I can tell what this blog is about.
